  • Main objectives of this job

    You will be required to coordinate harvest teams.  Including:

    • Source staff (via company's existing digital channels).
    • Induct and train.
    • Supervise & manage performance.
    • Manage all harvest equipment & inputs.
    • Supervise bunching in packing shed.
    • Drive forklift and/or tractor to deliver harvested product when necessary.

    To do this you will need to meet with management to discuss the workplans prior to managing your team.  So you can provide your team with the motivation to learn the technical side of harvesting as well as the compliance aspects of food safety, OHS and industrial relations. 

    Please note:  that we do not use harvest contracting services.  Our farming company employs all staff directly.

    All training and support will be provided to you.

  • Hours

    We operate all year round and have long term Australian harvest teams.  We also employ backpackers during our peak season (April to October).  

    We only stop production in extreme circumstances, such as when there is lots of rain, a natural disaster etc.

    Details are:

    • Approximately 5 days per week, Monday to Friday.
    • Working around 7.6 hours per day.
    • Some Saturday work on occasions (optional).
    • Usually starts just after sunrise - between 5am and 8am.
    • Start times may be later if there has been rain overnight.
    • You will receive a message every evening to confirm the following day's work plan and start time - using the Asana app.
  • Payment terms

    You will be employed directly by our farming company under the Horticultural Award 2020.

    • Starting off with Casual Award Rates at a minimum of Level 5. Rate is $33.96 per hour and is negotiable for the right person.
    • This is long term work.
    • Wage is deposited into your bank. account every 2 weeks, and your payslip is emailed to you.
    • Superannuation - payable periodically.
  • Superannuation & taxation

    Superannuation is currently 11.5% of your gross monthly wages, applicable once the threshold of $450 before tax has been reached.  Note that these rules may vary for people under the age of 18.

    Taxation will be paid to the Australian Taxation Office.

    Most staff wear their Bare Essentials uniform shirt, which is not mandatory.  They are available for purchase from the office, and you are welcome to purchase a shirt too!

    On occasions, we hold social events and meetings that help to create a sense of belonging and family amongst our team.

  • Daily workplan

    Our business prepares workplans and rosters weekly.  You will be provided with a rough guideline of start times and jobs for the coming week.  We will confirm every night through the Asana app, for the following day's work. 

    To be able to receive the daily messages, you will be sent a link to an app called ‘Asana”.

    Every morning before work starts, we may hold a Tool Box Meeting to discuss and refine the daily work schedule, along with any OHS, Food Safety, COVID or Industrial Relations issues. Some issues may be broadcast through the Asana App.

  • What to bring everyday

    Smile, large water bottle, morning tea and lunch

    Note: an airconditioned lunch room is available for your breaks. There is a fridge, kettle and microwave available for you to use.

  • What to wear

    Wear closed-in footwear on the property and comfortable, clean clothing that is breathable and suitable for bending over and sitting in dirt.  A hat is also a must.

    You will be provided an Apron and Gum Boots when you work in the shed.  These can go over your farm clothes.

    Uniform shirts with our logo, are available from a local workwear shop - they are not mandatory.
